The Cyprus Pirates pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-61 bruising from West Jordan. Cyprus was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Jordan apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.
Despite the loss, Cyprus still got an impressive performance from Emilee Anderson, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sela Ama, who scored ten points.
Leading West Jordan to victory were Rochelle Afo Manuma and Giselle Muffet. Afo Manuma scored 26 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Muffet scored 27 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Afo Manuma is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Atyana Crosby, who scored three points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Cyprus now has a losing record at 6-7. As for West Jordan, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cyprus will take on Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hunter has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for West Jordan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 14.
