The Burges Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season. They blew past Hanks 51-28. Given Burges' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Hanks is ranked 636th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burges got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordyn Hernandez out in front who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Hernandez has scored at least 25% of Burges' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Priscilla Diaz, who scored ten points.
Burges has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Hanks, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Burges will head out on the road to face off against Parkland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hanks will be home for the holidays to greet Canutillo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Canutillo is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
