The Medina Christian Academy Knights lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 67-26 defeat at the hands of Brooklyn. Medina Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.
Despite the loss, Medina Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Ashley Conwill dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That was a full 42.3% of Medina Christian Academy's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ann Sems, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Ashlyn Dyson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 46 points and 11 rebounds for Brooklyn. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dyson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Nieves, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Medina Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-8. As for Brooklyn, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medina Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Oberlin at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. As for Brooklyn, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fairview at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Brooklyn is facing Fairview at the right time seeing as Fairview is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
