Basketball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Mead Panthers

The Roosevelt Roughriders will head out to take on the Mead Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Roosevelt is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.

Roosevelt will bounce into Monday's game after beating Seattle Prep, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Everything went Roosevelt's way against Seattle Prep on Saturday as Roosevelt made off with a 67-41 win. The Roughriders pushed the score to 56-29 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

Roosevelt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ellery Burke-Brown out in front who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points and six steals. Burke-Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Emma Curtis was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points along with five assists and five steals.

Roosevelt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Mead came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Bullpups with points to spare, taking the game 66-47.

Mead pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
