The Kiowa Indians can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They strolled past Deer Trail with points to spare, taking the game 42-27. The victory was just what Kiowa needed coming off of a 70-41 loss in their prior game.
Jordan Perreault was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Wyer, who scored eight points along with seven steals.
Deer Trail's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ally Hardwick, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Hardwick continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Megan Donovan was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and seven blocks.
Kiowa now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Deer Trail, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kiowa will square off against Swallows Charter Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Hopefully Swallows Charter Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 46 on Tuesday. As for Deer Trail, they will head out on the road to face off against Elbert at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
