New Castle had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Yorktown Tigers, falling 15-3. The Trojans were not able to make up for their loss to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
New Castle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Armstrong, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
As for Yorktown, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 15 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Yorktown's side, Charlotte Childers and Olivia Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Childers pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Jones struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Childers went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jones fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. What's more, Jones posted two runs, the most she's had since back in April.
In other batting news, Yorktown let Ellie Slaven and Alexis Fields run wild. Slaven went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Fields went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. That's the most RBI Slaven has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jaromin, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Looking ahead, New Castle will take on Tri at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Yorktown, they will square off against Hamilton Southeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 1.4, the Royals 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
