Walton managed to slip by Bozeman the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Braves came up short against the Bucks on Friday, falling 15-3. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Alayah Dalton made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Freeport sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Ponce De Leon on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kaylee Carroll spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayla Stephens, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Corissa Duggar, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
The victory got Freeport back to even at 6-6. As for Walton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Freeport's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Walton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game.
