Pembroke is 1-9 against Alexander since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Dragons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Pembroke is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Pembroke made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oakfield-Alabama, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dragons fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 9-7 on Monday. The Dragons just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Pembroke saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Hootman, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Reagan Schneider was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Alexander, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Attica with a sharp 10-4 win on Tuesday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Emily Pietrzykowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Felski, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ava Yax, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Alexander's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pembroke, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Pembroke might still be hurting after the 9-2 defeat they got from Alexander in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
