The JC Bermudez Doral Thunder will head out to take on the Killian Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, JC Bermudez Doral turned things around against Gulliver Prep on Monday. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since March 12th.
JC Bermudez Doral got a great performance from Daniel Marquez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Marquez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Thunder are 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Diego Rivaflecha was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Kevin Landrian also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Killian). They put the hurt on Riviera Prep with a sharp 15-0 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Sebastian Perez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Julian Zeledon was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lucas Arcaute, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Killian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
JC Bermudez Doral now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Killian, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11.
JC Bermudez Doral couldn't quite finish off Killian in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Thunder avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
