The Brighton Cardinals's six-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 43-27 win over Craigmont. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Brighton's was.
Brighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Jones, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Da'lyjah Maclin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jala Wilson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 37% of Craigmont's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was M.H. H, who scored five points.
Brighton's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14. As for Craigmont, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brighton will take on Raleigh-Egypt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Raleigh-Egypt is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. As for Craigmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Millington Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Millington Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Craigmont likes a good challenge.
