The Biloxi Indians won the last time they faced the St. Martin Yellow Jackets, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Biloxi had just enough and edged St. Martin out 31-29. The win made it back-to-back wins for Biloxi.
Biloxi found their leader in underclassman Zaniya Johnson, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Cruso, who scored seven points.
St. Martin's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaleah Lowery, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Kylenn Ward who scored five points along with six assists and five rebounds. Lowery scored a full 69% of St. Martin's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Biloxi is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for St. Martin, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-5.
Biloxi will take on Gulfport at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulfport will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 184th, while Biloxi is ranked tenth). As for St. Martin, they will head out on the road to face off against D'Iberville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. D'Iberville is on a six-game streak of home wins, St. Martin a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
