Kendrick is 9-1 against Lapwai since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Kendrick is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Kendrick needed a bit of extra time to put away Grangeville. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-5 victory. Considering the Tigers have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Morgan Boyer, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerry Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lapwai was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-5 to Potlatch, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Robert Parrish made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jereese McCormack, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Kendrick pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Lapwai, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kendrick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Lapwai struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Kendrick's way against Lapwai when the teams last played on Friday, as Kendrick made off with an 18-5 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
