C Hobbs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up six earned runs off only two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Blake got a massive performance out of J Feliciano, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave Feliciano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Z Newton, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
Blake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Armwood was a bit more limited in their game on Monday. They lost 19-2 to Bloomingdale. The Hawks have struggled against the Bulls recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Blake's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Armwood, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Armwood struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Blake's way against Armwood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Blake made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Yellow Jackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
