After both having extra time off, the Waupun Warriors and the Poynette Pumas will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Waupun is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lake Mills just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the L-Cats by a score of 3-2. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the L-Cats 25-17 in the first set.
Waupun actually scored more points across those five sets (111-106), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 27-25, 27-25, 20-25, 15-11.
Waupun might have lost, but man, Audrey Sanders was a machine: she had 20 digs and two aces.
Meanwhile, Poynette came up short against Lakeside Lutheran on Tuesday and fell 3-1. While the Pumas didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Warriors 25-20 in the first set.
Poynette started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-10, 25-15, 25-23.
Poynette's defeat dropped their record down to 8-20. As for Waupun, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 13-7.
Waupun took their victory against Poynette when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
