Mara Kale made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that she has snagged this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Reigle, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylee Ramsey, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Western Reserve hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jackson-Milton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Memorial get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Western Reserve, Jackson-Milton also got a great game from a two-way player: Katie Byers. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Byers was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Charlotte Estes was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Emma Johns was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Western Reserve now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Jackson-Milton, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
