It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the West Columbus Vikings had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Leopards 42-0 at home. Winning may never get old, but West Columbus sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Unique Kelly was his usual excellent self, rushing for 133 yards and four touchdowns on only ten carries. Kelly was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 59 yards.
West Columbus' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Lakewood's QB won't forget Triston Freeman anytime soon given Freeman sacked him twice.
West Columbus' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.23 points. As for Lakewood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
West Columbus will look to defend their home field on Friday against Wilson Prep at 7:00 p.m. Wilson Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
