Lincoln came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 64-52 victory over the Fernley Vaqueros.
Jagger Merolla had another great game (as he tends to do), going 13-for-18 on his way to 31 points along with eight boards and four steals. Those four steals gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Simmons, who posted 12 points and four steals.
Lincoln was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fernley only racked up nine.
Despite the loss, Fernley still got an impressive performance from Bryce Dunagan-Stephens, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 23 points and six rebounds. Dunagan-Stephens has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Michael Fitzgerald also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Lincoln's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fernley, they moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
