East Robertson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 28-24 W against the Kirkwood Cobras.
East Robertson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kason Young out in front who rushed for 94 yards and one score on only 11 carries, and also threw for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most rushing yards Young has posted since back in September of 2024. Cade Brooks also helped with two TDs in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: East Robertson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 286 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kirkwood only rushed for 144.
Kirkwood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles Reding, who threw for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards. Josiah Claybrooks was another key player, rushing for 103 yards and one score.
East Robertson's record now sits at 5-0. As for Kirkwood, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
East Robertson has already played their next contest, a 43-0 win against Hickman County on the 26th. As for Kirkwood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 49-14 victory against Dickson County on the 26th.
