The Pocomoke Warriors lost against the Decatur Seahawks on January 4th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Pocomoke fell 62-50 to Decatur.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Donyae Washington, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. Washington has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Esham, who scored 17 points.
Decatur's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jozlyn Tyre, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Makenzee Purnell was another key contributor, scoring four points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.
Pocomoke's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Decatur, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocomoke will challenge Wicomico at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Decatur, they will head out on the road to face off against Arcadia at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Arcadia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 358th in Virginia, while Decatur is ranked 128th in Maryland).
