Delphi Community has gone 9-1 against Clinton Prairie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Oracles will square off against the Gophers at 5:30 p.m.
Delphi Community blew Sheridan out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Sheridan got their revenge. The Oracles fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 8-6. The Oracles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Xaine Tessier led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Keygan Elliott, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clinton Prairie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Tri-Central 14-5 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Gophers, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cayden Robinson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Clinton Prairie let Jackson Price and Alex King run wild. Price went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while King got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Price has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Thomas, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in 13 consecutive matches.
Clinton Prairie's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Delphi Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Delphi Community hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Clinton Prairie struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Delphi Community couldn't quite get it done against Clinton Prairie in their previous matchup two weeks ago as they fell 5-2. Can the Oracles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
