The Salome Frogs posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past Mayer, posting a 58-20 victory at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Salome also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Salome got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Edgar Gamez out in front who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jovany Calderon, who scored 15 points.
When it comes to explaining why Mayer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Earl Williams. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played.
Salome has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Mayer, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salome will take on Desert Heights Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mayer, they will head out on the road to challenge North Valley Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
