Allen has the nation's best player, one of the most impressive winning streaks in state history, and now, a national title.
The
Eagles' dominant victory in the Class 6A-I title game, combined with a
decisive De La Salle victory over Centennial in California, is enough to boost Allen
to the No. 1 spot, just past Bishop Gorman.
Bishop Gorman enjoyed a dominant season, emerging from a very challenging early-season schedule unscathed.
Allen,
conversely, proved its mettle down the stretch, defeating DeSoto,
Arlington Martin, Euless Trinity and Skyline in consecutive weeks
leading up the 6A-I title game. Of course, it helps when reigning MaxPreps Player of the Year (and one of the greatest Texas high school football players ever)
Kyler Murray lines up behind center.
De La Salle and Folsom check in at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, after dominant victories in CIF Bowl Games.
Final rankings are subject to change following the State Champions Bowl Series on Dec. 27, involving several ranked teams.
