The Long County Blue Tide and the Mary Persons Bulldogs squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Long County Blue Tide had to settle for second. Long County took a hard 35-19 fall against Mary Persons.
When it comes to explaining why Long County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ahmari Douglas. Despite the final result, he rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown.
Mary Persons can attribute much of their success to Duke Watson, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Watson is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last ten games he's played. Seth Davis was in the mix too, providing Mary Persons with two touchdowns.
Long County's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Mary Persons, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Long County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Mary Persons will be playing at home against Crisp County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 152 points over their last three matchups.
