Basketball Recap: Wilmington Christian Academy's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Wilmington Christian Academy extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Katelyn McCurry. The Wilmington Christian Academy Patriots walked away with a 32-21 win over the Hilltop Christian Chargers on Friday thanks in part to McCurry, who went 7 of 11 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Ava Gray, who posted five points in addition to 14 boards and three steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.3 rebounds per game.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meleah Bell, who earned six points along with 13 boards and three steals. Bell has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Wilmington Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.6 points per game. As for Hilltop Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

The future could be bright for both Wilmington Christian Academy and Hilltop Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Wilmington Christian Academy will try to hand Liberty Christian Academy their 15th-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Hilltop Christian will look to extend Faith Christian Academy's four-game losing streak when the meet at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
