The Sunlake Seahawks were the 55-41 winner over the River Ridge Royal Knights when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Sunlake was outmatched by River Ridge on the road and fell 60-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Sunlake has scored all season.
Several Seahawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dawn Figueroa, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Alia Dobrzanski, who scored eight points.
It was another big night for Lauren Lee, who scored 25 points along with eight steals and six rebounds for River Ridge. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaree Nichols, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Sunlake and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Sunlake won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Calvary Christian at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for River Ridge, they will play host again and welcome Alonso, where tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Alonso will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 541st, while River Ridge is ranked 23rd).
