Stevie Cressionnie made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie McBryde, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Allie Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Wilson Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian only posted a batting average of .192.
Union Grove Christian came out on top against Scotland Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fourth inning. The Patriots blew past the Saints 16-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by 11 runs or more this season.
Like Wilson Christian Academy, Union Grove Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Morgan Donovant. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Donovant was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Maddy McDaniel was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Faith Hege, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Union Grove Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Wilson Christian Academy, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Both Wilson Christian Academy and Union Grove Christian just can't seem to miss. The Chargers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Union Grove Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wilson Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Union Grove Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 4-1. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
