The Edgewater Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Boone Braves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Edgewater will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Two weeks ago, Edgewater got themselves on the board against Horizon, but Horizon never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 45-0 on the road. Edgewater pushed the score to 31-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Horizon had no chance of recovering from.
Edgewater's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaden Shields-Dutton led the charge by rushing for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Shields-Dutton is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Another big playmaker for Edgewater was Jaden Brown, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Boone fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Oak Ridge 48-8 at home. The result was nothing new for Boone, who have now won three games by 38 points or more so far this season.
Edgewater's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points per game. As for Boone, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Edgewater was able to grind out a solid victory over Boone in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 21-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edgewater since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
