The Buckeye Bucks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 64-50 bruising from Westlake. While losing is never fun, Buckeye can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 613th, while Westlake is ranked 81st).
Derek Occhipinti was the offensive standout of the match as he dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jackson Moore, who scored 13 points.
Buckeye's defeat was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-3. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Westlake, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buckeye will face off against Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westlake, they will head out on the road to face off against Rocky River at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rocky River focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
