The Kanab Cowboys waltzed into their match on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They blew past Water Canyon 75-43 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Kanab has posted since December 7, 2023.
Kanab found their leader in underclassman Kyle Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Mortensen, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Barlow, who scored 20 points along with two steals. Barlow continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dynonte Blackmore, who scored ten points.
Kanab is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Water Canyon, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kanab will take on Millard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Millard is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Water Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Enterprise's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
