Softball Recap: Bishop O'dowd Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Bishop O'Dowd won the last time they faced Mt. Eden and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Dragons blew past the Monarchs 20-9. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Emma Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bishop O'Dowd got a massive performance out of Amiri Green, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Green a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tulip Barnes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

Bishop O'Dowd was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Bishop O'Dowd is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Eden, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Bishop O'Dowd will take on San Leandro at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mt. Eden, they will face off against Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
