Division III recap Sept. 26, 2012
Souhegan was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Hollis-Brookline 35-13. The Sabers came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
Pembroke was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to fifth in Division III. Earlier in the week, the Spartans defeated the Spartans 43-22.
ConVal's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Noah Powers threw for 31 yards and Max Wildes had 13 yards receiving. On the ground Chris Queen chipped in 85 yards. Jeremy Doubleday helped ConVal's passing attack out by catching two balls for 12 yards.
ConVal's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Riordan McCole has thrown for 185 yards this season, while Doubleday has nine catches for 83 yards. Queen leads the league in rushing with 352 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Portsmouth takes on Goffstown. As it stands, the Clippers are in third, while the Grizzlies are in fourth.
Milford took down the Cougars 41-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
