Hooks is 8-2 against De Kalb since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Hooks will be playing at home against De Kalb at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hooks barely beat Redwater the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hooks was the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over Redwater on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won nine in a row.

Peyton Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Zoey Greenwood was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Lewis, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
Hooks was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, De Kalb hadn't done well against Queen City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. De Kalb blew past Queen City 10-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Bears, who have now won eight contests in a row.
Kaydee Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 18 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Starrett, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Caylin Corbett, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.
De Kalb's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Hooks, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hooks has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .485. However, it's not like De Kalb struggles in that department as they've averaged .485. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hooks was able to grind out a solid victory over De Kalb in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. Does Hooks have another victory up their sleeve, or will De Kalb turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
