Southampton Academy is 1-9 against Brunswick Academy since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Raiders will head out to face off against the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Southampton Academy sitting on three straight victories and Brunswick Academy on four.
Southampton Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 18-run drubbing they dealt Amelia Academy on Wednesday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over the Patriots. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Dutchess Rose made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reagan Webb, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Autumn Rebee also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Southampton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Brunswick Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Isle of Wight Academy on Friday, taking the game 7-2. That's two games straight that the Vikings have won by exactly five runs.
Olivia Ann Evans spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits.
At the plate, Aubrey Lynn Corum was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Lexi Vaughan Howerton, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Brunswick Academy pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs. As for Southampton Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southampton Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Brunswick Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Southampton Academy might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Brunswick Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
