The Lancaster Catholic Crusaders will face off against the Pequea Valley Braves at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
Lancaster Catholic managed to slip by Trinity the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Crusaders came up short against the Shamrocks on Saturday, falling 15-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Crusaders have suffered since March 28, 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pequea Valley). They blew past Brandywine Heights Area 12-2 on Friday. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Bullets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Logan Zynn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Coleston Temple, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pequea Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Lancaster Catholic now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Pequea Valley, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Lancaster Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pequea Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Lancaster Catholic got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 1st against Pequea Valley by a conclusive 6-0 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
