After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Plateau Valley, the North Park Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-32 victory over West Grand. That result was just more of the same for these two, as North Park also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
North Park's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Pittington, who scored 14 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Cornelison, who scored 12 points.
Despite the loss, West Grand saw an underclassman step up: Stran Lechman scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Lechman scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Martinson, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
North Park's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for West Grand, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road.
North Park won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rangely at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Rangely is ranked 290th, while North Park is ranked 294th). West Grand won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Vail Christian at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Vail Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 172 points over their last three matches.
