Basketball Recap: Illinois Valley Piles Up the Points Against Riddle

There's no place like home for Illinois Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 69-42 stomp they got against the Riddle Irish. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Illinois Valley has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Riddle, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Illinois Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Willamette Valley Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Illinois Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Willamette Valley Christian likes a good challenge. As for Riddle, they will be playing at home against Gold Beach at 4:00 p.m. on January 4, 2025. Riddle is facing Gold Beach at the right time seeing as Gold Beach is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
