Zephyrhills Christian Academy couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 35-12 to the Haines City Hornets on Friday.
Despite the loss, Zephyrhills Christian Academy had strong showings from Gavin Davis, who picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Kahlid Cambell, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cambell got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of80 yards.
Haines City found their leader in underclassman Kamari Smith, who rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
The win got Haines City back to even at 1-1.
Zephyrhills Christian Academy will be playing at home against Discovery at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Haines City, they will be defending their home-field for the first timethey go up against Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
