Eastmoor Academy won the last time they faced Walnut Ridge and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Warriors put the hurt on the Scots with a sharp 15-4 win. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Aayden Johnson and Darren Milligan were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Johnson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Milligan struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Johnson scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Milligan scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Mario Blount was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Damario Whitson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Eastmoor Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs. As for Walnut Ridge, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastmoor Academy will welcome Mifflin at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Walnut Ridge, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Briggs at 5:00 p.m. on the 28th.
