The Lincoln Christian Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Platteview Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Christian will be strutting in after a win while Platteview will be coming in after a defeat.
Lincoln Christian took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Adams Central by a score of 28-20. The Crusaders pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit the Patriots cut but never quite recovered from.
Lincoln Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Cooper Torell, Jamison Thies, and Cash Peterson picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Platteview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Plattsmouth, falling 49-7.
Even if they lost, Platteview's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Marshall Stobbe, Jordan Martenson, and Oakley Osborn, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Platteview's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Lincoln Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-5.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Lincoln Christian has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 241.5 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Platteview, though, as they've been averaging only 92.4 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
