The Bloomington Purple Raiders will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the New Trier Trevians at 9:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Bloomington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Bloomington took a serious blow against MacArthur, falling 90-31. Bloomington was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 65-15.
Despite the loss, Bloomington had strong showings from Carter Tindall, who scored six points, and Brandon Cross, who scored seven points. Cross continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, New Trier had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They walked away with a 50-37 victory over Evanston. Given New Trier's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Evanston is ranked 62nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bloomington's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-11. As for New Trier, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Bloomington came up short against New Trier in their previous matchup back in December of 2019, falling 58-50. Can Bloomington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
