It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Basha Bears can now relate to. They fell 35-27 to the Coyotes on Saturday. Basha's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
When it comes to explaining why Basha lost, one person who can't be blamed is Demond Williams Jr.. Despite the final result, he rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 260 yards and two touchdowns. Williams Jr. was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards.
Centennial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kenneth Worthy, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 75 receiving yards. Kainan Manna was another key contributor, throwing for 238 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes.
Basha's defeat dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Centennial, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-1.
Basha does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Centennial will head out on the road to face off against Liberty at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Liberty has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 570 points over their last 12 games.
