The Secaucus Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Wallington Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Secaucus is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Secaucus' strategy against Saddle Brook on Friday. Everything went Secaucus' way against Saddle Brook as Secaucus made off with a 35-12 win. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Secaucus had established a 22 point advantage.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Secaucus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandon Vega, who rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Vega was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Noah Santos also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Wallington, who are still winless after their seventh match. They were dealt a 38-0 loss at the hands of Garfield on Friday.
Secaucus' victory lifted them to 2-5 while Wallington's loss dropped them down to 0-7.
Secaucus might still be hurting after the 27-7 defeat they got from Wallington in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Can Secaucus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
