Gibault Catholic hasn't had much luck against Red Bud recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hawks will look to defend their home field against the Musketeers at 4:30 p.m. Gibault Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Gibault Catholic's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Althoff Catholic as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Chloe Lancaster made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Molly Steibel and Lauren Lanham did most of the damage at the plate: Steibel scored four runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Lanham scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave Steibel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Bollman, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Red Bud ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Okawville 7-6.
Olivia Geralds spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Julia Whelan was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Ava Wagner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
Red Bud was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Red Bud has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gibault Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
