The Hunter Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Granger Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hunter is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hunter beat Taylorsville 49-43.
Hunter can attribute much of their success to Kalysa Ng, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Grace Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Gallagher is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mamakoula Tuitupou Kutu, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Granger's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 81-19 loss at the hands of West Jordan. While losing is never fun, Granger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while West Jordan is ranked 30th).
Hunter's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Granger, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Hunter came up short against Granger when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 39-33. Can Hunter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
