The Williams Vikings struggled with assists on Saturday (the Red Mesa Redskins had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Williams fell 57-48 to the Redskins. Williams has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Kai Mortensen, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Mortensen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Vazquez, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
It was another big night for Shyla Pipkin, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Red Mesa. Pipkin also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Tianna Bradley, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Williams' loss dropped their record down to 17-12. As for Red Mesa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.
Williams will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Joseph City is coming into the game hot, having won their last 14 games. Red Mesa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
