The Waterloo Vikings will venture away from home to challenge the Mogadore Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Waterloo is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Waterloo's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Memorial as they made off with an 11-0 win. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Mason Biltz was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and four runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Dalton Braybon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Waterloo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mogadore and Rootstown, and Mogadore kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rovers 3-2.
Jake Hopkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Mogadore saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Smith, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Mogadore's record is now 6-10. As for Waterloo, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 4-11.
Waterloo's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mogadore, though, as they've been averaging only 1.4 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Waterloo continue to outrun the ball?
Waterloo was able to grind out a solid victory over Mogadore when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 11-6. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
