Portage hasn't had much luck against Crown Point recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Indians will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Portage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Portage saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 9-4 to South Bend Saint Joseph.
Duncan Krenkel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Erin Fausch made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Crown Point entered their tilt with Harrison on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Raiders get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Raiders on their field since April 17, 2021.
Harrison's batters probably weren't too happy with Paige Liezert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up two walks).
At the plate, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Scarlette Tegtman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Tegtman has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Smith, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Crown Point's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Portage, they now have a losing record of 7-8.
Portage suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Crown Point when the teams last played back in April. Will the Indians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
