Itasca is 7-2 against Rio Vista since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Itasca Wampus Cats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rio Vista Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Itasca and six for Rio Vista.
Last Tuesday, Itasca came up short against Italy and fell 54-46. Itasca has not had much luck with Italy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Rio Vista suffered their biggest loss since November 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 58-18 loss at the hands of Frost. While losing is never fun, Rio Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1270th, while Frost is ranked 381st).
Itasca has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-17 record this season. As for Rio Vista, they bumped their record down to 5-21 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Itasca came out on top in a nail-biter against Rio Vista when the teams last played back in November of 2023, sneaking past 34-32. Does Itasca have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rio Vista turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
