Softball Recap: Lee County Has No Trouble Against Owsley County

Lee County got themselves on the board against Owsley County on Tuesday, but Owsley County never followed suit. They blew past the Owls / Lady Owls 13-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Owls / Lady Owls: they've now won five in a row.

Preslee Cundiff made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 18 over six innings pitched. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two triples, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Lee County got a massive performance out of Emileigh Warner, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Hollie Chrisman, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lee County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

Lee County picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-10. As for Owsley County, their loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lee County will take on Estill County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Engineers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Owsley County, they will face off against Morgan County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Owls / Lady Owls are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
