The Green Mountain Rams's four-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They snuck past Discovery Canyon with a 57-51 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Green Mountain also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Green Mountain's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Beeson, who scored 17 points along with five steals. Blake Weslin was another key contributor, scoring 20 points.
Despite the loss, Discovery Canyon had strong showings from Hugh Tarpenning, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Aiden Hayler, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Mitchell Vorwaller, who scored seven points.
Discovery Canyon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Green Mountain's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Discovery Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Mountain will take on Lewis-Palmer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 59.6 points per game, Lewis-Palmer has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup. Discovery Canyon and Widefield will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Widefield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
